I have replaced brakes and pads on many different Miatas, using many
different brands of pads. I am a big fan of the Hawk HPS pads. Compared to
OEM, they grip like crazy, but a quiet and fairly dustless. Detractors
probably failed to properly bed the pads, or used old rotors that were
already glazed over with another pads compound.

New rotors - I recommend the ATE PremiumOne slotted rotors. Available from
Tire rack at a reasonable price.

New Rotors and new Hawk HPS pads. properly bedded are an excellent
combination.
