I had a Honda in the 80s that did this. Startup from cold, it would blow
blue smoke for a few minutes. Hot starts were fine. It was only after a cool
down cycle did the oil have time to seep past the seals.

Somehow, oil is getting into the combustion chamber. I would pull the
exhaust header and check for oil on the valves. Of course, it could be on
the intake side. If you could identify the valve seal that is leaking, then
you can just replace that one. Of course, if you have the cams off, then you
might as well replace all the seals.

Just my theory...
