I went ahead and built the 2.5 on jdk1.3, There were only 2 changes .. One was Color.WHITE to Color.white and the other was replaceAll function of String..
So I am possibly good now..

Perhaps you might be able to backport your version of Mibble
to JDK 1.3 without much effort. That way you'd get all the
