At MSU I've picked up working SE's and SE/30's for $5 each, LCIII's and MacII's of many flavors for $1, Quadra's and Centris's for $5, 10, and 20, early PowerPC's for $20 and up. Mostly old low power stuff that have been fun to play with and a source for working hard and floppy drives of all sorts, motherboards and ram. Working monitors from $5, mostly $15 and up. Keyboards $4. No mouses. I've been using some of the stuff get a couple basic systems together for my in-laws to do light email and web duty. Something different shows up every week. I've been checking their stock for only the last couple of weeks. After the spring term is over there probably will be more stuff. And not just computer junk; I picked a nice Trek mountain bike for my wife for $35. Take a look at the MSU web site for days and times they're open. http://surplus.msu.edu/default.html The UofM surplus store has much newer and more expensive stuff and tons more of it. This week, I bought (for my brother-in-law) an 8600/300 with 17 in. monitor for $175, marked down from $250. They're having a $75 off sale on complete systems until the end of the month. UofM has lots of fairly new monitors of all sizes. The profs must be dumping their monitors for LCD's. I hope they remember to hug a taxpayer every day. http://www.umich.edu/~ofa/PropDisp/ I haven't had the time to check out other schools' surplus warehouse stores across the state. Ya'll can do that and let the rest of us know what's happening. -- Dan Lansing -- MichiMac is sponsored by Dan Knight of <http://lowendmac.com/>. / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> MichiMac list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/michimac.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/michimac%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Macintosh?
