This sounds like a cashe memory release problem. Things were done in OS9.1 to fix such problems. I'm not sure if they appeared in 8.6. Do see what your memory cashe allocations are in various programs such as Photoshop 6(if you are running it). Does the problem seem to fix itself temporarily upon a fresh start of the computer? This would point to cashe problems. Paul
