Hello Martin and Andy,

Thanks for your responses.

Both Manu and I are both collecting new examples for possible uses of
UID and Track Numbers I don't know when this will be complete though

I would recommend Discogs as a massive source of useful examples:

http://discogs.com
example of physical album: http://www.discogs.com/release/530022
example of mp3-only (digital) release: http://www.discogs.com/release/ 786894

(Note that even the digital release employs a catalog ID/value.)

If there is any way I can help expedite or assist your process, or perhaps join the contributors roster, please let me know. In the meantime, I've been using class="identifier" for the catalog number and class="position" for the track number.

We should also be careful to distinguish /types/ of identifier
(catalogue number, UID, ISBN, Amazon-ASIN, etc.)

Since those other than catalogue number are proprietary identification methods, i.e., identifers for external systems, the role of "identifier" should go to the primary source, the record label or publisher.

Best,
Justin Maxwell
