Wim,
I'm interested in low head pump storage. To be used for peak/off-peak load
shift and firming renewables (wind, solar, etc)
Do you know of people that are interested in this? Working on it?
For the generation portion I'm looking for a low head turbine working on a
syphon effect (over the top of the dam).
That are a lot of low head water storage dams with little or no flow. Some
are entirely pump supplied from canals. The canals can also work.
The critical element is an inexpensive low head turbine that can be
retrofitted to an existing dam using an over the top syphon water path.

2004 has been a year with huge changes for us with my acceptance of the
assignment at the African Development Bank in Tunis. And although I am
getting used to working at the Bank and dealing with the enormous amount
of red tape, I am still not yet used to Tunis. Tunisia is definitely
very different from South Africa and I can assure you that we have our
distinctive preferences... The project at the Bank is getting more
detailed and a number of activities are planned for the new year.
