The Cross Flow turbine was invented by an Australian engineer, A.G.M Mitchell
and patented by him in 1903. The Hungarian Professor Donat Banki later refined
the design and this has subsequently been refined by others, notably Ossberger
in Germany and Cink in the Czech republic. So european dominance in this area
is understandable.

There are however several other manufacturers outside of Europe, including
Canyon Industries in the U.S and ourselves in Australia. Details are in the
hydro-power section of our website http://www.planetarypower.com.au . We have
never sold a unit to the U.S.A, but I like to think that we have helped several
of our North American friends to build their own.

You are welcome to contact me directly with any specific questions regarding
Banki-crossflow turbines.

Max Enfield
