Hi Carl, Max and all:

Following my former comments about Banki turbines, Max history about it is
right (...I dont know which is the real name... Michell or Mitchell?, can
anyone clear me that?). More information can be found in SKAT - Harnessing
Water Power on a Small Scale, Volume 2 -"Hyraulics Engineering Manual" by
Alex Arter / Ueli Meir.
Cink (Chzec.) and IREM (Italy) Banki turbines have a cilindrical flow
regulator device that increase or decrease the nozzle 'window area' instead
of special profiled blade as in Ossberger , SKAT (Switzerland) and others
cross flow models. We use the last one device in our M-B turbines.

I have good experience in cross-flow construction since 1991 and so I like
interchange our experiences with other builders specially in the runner
construction and blade welding, fatigue failures, etc. Our normal runners
are 200 mm and 300 mm outside diameter.

A 300 mm diameter runner was arrived today for repair work from a turbine
that we install in 2000. Runner came with 3 blades out because stones impact
and fatigue failures. I must take some photos for our files that can be sent
directly to those interested for discussion.

Regards,
Carlos E. Bonifetti
MTF LTDA.
