Hi Peter,

all of you describe below can be done, but with your own effort and 
creativity for pick up parts and field work.
There are a lot of low power home made systems around third world countries, 
running with poor quality, but ..running at all.
'Learning curve' and operating problems must be solved step by step by the 
owner, warranties are self served, of course.
That's my contribution to your question.
