I'm a newbie to the forum, I have recently bought a watermill in south- west france. There are three francis turbines in place one of which is currently rigged up for electricity production. When I spin up the turbine it produces nothing because the alternator is not exciting itself. I can excite it with a car battery and it works but as soon as I remove the battery it stops working and with the load removed the turbine overspins. My question is, how can I research the problem and could a solution be to feed the excitation coil directly from the grid?
Many thanks...Alastair Trower ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Get fast access to your favorite Yahoo! Groups.
