Zoro,
I just want to make sure you understand that you will not save any energy with
such a system. Placing any kind of turbine in the water path will result with
to things: Or the pump will force to keep the same flow in order to compensate
for the restriction caused by the turbine. This will increase the power
consumption of the pump. The other possibility is that the flow will decrease.
This means less water circulation in your pool.
With that said I have a suggestion for you: To keep the same water circulation
in your pool simply add a heater directly connected to the grid. With some
skills it can easily be done yourself . Most of the part can be found at
Mcmaster. This will cost some electricity but certainly not more than your
turbine project. If your plan is to save electricity cost then place a timer on
your pump. Energy saved can be use to heat your pool with the heater mentionned
above.
Good luck,
Martin

Objet : Re: [microhydro] Reaction Turbine System for Home
Denton,
Thanks for responding to a ghost. I wasn't trying to power
the
pump with the system. I was only looking for a way to generate some
power to
heat the pool water using 12v submersible heating elements. As I
mentioned in
my post, I do not know anything about generating power this way. I am
only
looking for any ideas that could work or a good source of information
on the
subject. Do you have any ideas for me that could "hold merit" ? Thank
you.
Sincerely,
Steve Scozzaro
