Also the environmental community has deemed (due to poor science and populist sentiment)that hydro is non-renewable and therefore not eligible for certain programs that encourage renewable generation.
Unfortunately the hydro community has done a poor job of advocating hydro as a renewable resource. To me, if wind and solar is, then hydro definitely is.
