It's not all the enviro community. Hydropower is indirect solar power. Solar distillation makes clouds, rain, water flow, and fills reservoirs, begetting hydropower. Don't let that go unchallenged! They can't just undefine renewables.
The bigger danger is from those enviros who want to blow up big dams "so the river can run free". See Glen Canyon Dam for example.
