Greetings Ian et al Your message did get my interest piqued. Water current turbines are a way of producing power without the traditional dam. The question is how to harness these together to make a substantial amount of power. I have arrived at a scheme using a pump on each turbine to produce a high pressure water source which could then be harnessed on shore in a conventional turbine to produce power. I believe this approach is unique to hydropower. You may find it on my website at http://www.althydrosolutions.com/products.html#sub any comments would be appreciated.

How would the initial construction costs, maintenance, and efficiency compare between building many smaller, efficient turbines in a type of Run-of-the-river systems compare with a traditional dam? I am an intern for an environmental company. I am trying to find an environmental alternative that uses the river, to building a standard dam. If I can find some viable alternatives to the historically standard approach, hopefully greater environmental protection can be acheived. These are for upcoming potential projects in China. Thanks, I appreciate any help anyone can give! Ian Does your company feature in the microhydro business directory at http://microhydropower.net/directory ?
