Thanks for the replies.

Yep, I probably would be able to get the drawings....although I did
buy a laser tape measure to eval the house before purchasing, which
makes measuring really quick and easy!

My question was more along the lines of using Visio most effectively.
Ie, should I simply use exterior and interior wall stencils, with the
appropriate dimensions, to build up the drawing rather than whole room
shapes? How about different layers for basic floorplan, electrical,
plumbing, etc?
