Happy New Year,

Things are heating up on the ice flows along the
Hudson River in Newburgh. Due to the thickening ice further up river, birds
are being pushed downstream, resulting in big numbers in the Newburgh area..
On tuesday 1/5, Ken McDermott found 3 juvenile ICELAND GULLS as well as a first
year GLAUCOUS GULL.

Yesterday, wed 1/6, while following up on that report, Rob Stone located an
ADULT ICELAND GULL at the same location.

The entire stretch of Front Street in Newburgh, is accessible to the public
with ample parking as well as well having many dining options. The best
viewing is after noon due to the positioning of sun. Recent flocks of gulls
number well over 1000 and we certainly have not Id'd them all.

Wishes for a Bird Filled New Year,
Curt McDermott
