This evening Tracey Shimer and I saw 5 Short-eared Owls at SGNWR in
Shawangunk, NY. They were perched conspicuously for quite a while and
at one point all 5 were in the air in a tight group but they soon
settled down again. Just as the light was waning they started to
become more active.

Also seen, many Northern Harriers and at least one Rough-legged Hawk
(dark morph).

On nearby Lippincott Rd a Red-headed Woodpecker was seen for the
second day in a row near Lippincott Manor and a Hooded Merganser was
in the Wallkill River across the street.

On the way home we were treated to a nice look at a Red-tail sitting
on a squirrel in someone's front yard. As we were fumbling for the
camera, it took off with its dinner.
