Hello All!
I just wanted to confirm that Vassar Farms is a great place to bird. Saturday
the 3rd I went there with a friend from 4:00-6:00 p.m. It was very slow in the
beginning. There was nothing on the pond when we entered, but on the way out we
saw a pair of Wood Ducks. I didn't see the Kestrels that day, but I know
they're there. They actually nest there. The Red-tail hawk got a mouse I think
because I saw a tail twitching. The Red-eared Slider was in the lower pond as
well as the water snake on the bank. I heard the Kingfisher but I didn't find
it. All over the place you hear and see Bluebirds. The Tree Swallows were
flying around too and the Spring Azures. On the way out I had a Bluebird on
the grass and next to it a Pine Warbler. To get a better look I got closer and
flushed it.
Good Birding!
