Hello!
Today I went with my friends to Roosevelt Farm & Forest Trail in Hyde Park to
check it out for the first time. It has 2 entrances: one from Rte. 9 across
from FDR and one from 9G by Valkill. I just wanted to say that it's a great
birding place good for thrushes and warblers. The creek runs thru it. Besides
the usual suspects we heard 5 Pine warblers & saw one. We heard 2 Louisiana
Waterthrushes but didn't see them. We also saw 2 Hermit Thrushes. Phoebes,
Chicadees, and others seem to be nesting there. A pair of Pileated Woodpeckers
were there and we heard the Red-shouldered Hawk on the way in and out. The
Chipping Sparrow was singing in the parking lot.
