9am to 11am - goode variety of birds but no noteable spring arrivals were on 
hand.
Birds seen :

belted kingfisher
cardinal (3)
pheasant (fast look before it ran into the brush)
blue jay (2)
numerous tree swallows
RW Blackbirds
numerous wood ducks
canada geese
mallards
brown creeper (3)
song sparrow
american crow
eastern phoebe (3)
yellow rumped warbler (1)
BC chickadee (2)
tufted titmouse (2)
downy woodpecker (1)
northern flicker (1)
red bellied woodpecker (1)

heard but not seen:
pileated woodpecker
carolina wren

FYI - the entrance is still extremely muddy 
also, there is a nesting canada goose at the far end of the main trail on the 
right - easily visible and almost right next to the trail in the water. she 
seemed to be angry and watchful of my presence but did not leave the nest to 
chase me off
