Went to Buttercup Farm this morning from 8:30 to approx. 12:30. Its a hot one out there today, and I have some leftover energy to possibly get out somewhere else later this afternoon.
Lots of interesting finds this morning, a couple of them were first sightings ever for me. I took a lot of pictures, and nearly everything I observed I got at least a photo or two to validate. Here is my sighting list: - 70+ White Throated Sparrows (foraging right out in the middle of the trail at the entrance. I have never seen so many. Could have been more, but I don't want to over count.) - 2 Song Sparrows - 6 Mallards - 9 Wood Ducks - 1 Green-Winged Teal (first sighting for me) - 20+ Red Winged Blackbirds - 20+ Common Grackles - 2 Eastern Bluebirds - 16 Tree Swallows - 1 Northern Waterthrush (yellow adult, also a first) - 4 Yellow Warblers - 1 Common Yellowthroat - Missed a photo by less than a second :( - 1 Red Tailed Hawk - 4 Blue Jays - 3 Cardinals - 6 Goldfinches - 1 Tufted Titmouse - 3 Blue Grey Gnatcatchers - 5 Brown-Headed Cowbirds - 1 Warbling Vireo (Not a 100% on this, but I got two photos. I will create a separate topic later once I have uploaded them. I hope people will agree with my ID, as that will mean another first for me.) Other Notables: - 3 Muskrats - 2 Northern Water Snakes - 2 Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies - 1 Spotted Turtle! (Yet another first for me) - 3 Black Squirrels (Another first :P)
