I think that I understand what you mean by the term โ€œbog standard US historyโ€,
but rather than express my own opinion about King George III, I refer the
readers here to the masterful US historian, Rick Atkinson. I am currently
making my way through the two Atkinson trilogies, โ€œThe Revolution Trilogyโ€ and
โ€œThe Liberation Trilogy.โ€ In the first of these, which at this point consists
of only two books that have been published, Atkinson makes it abundantly clear
that King George bears prime responsibility for the American Revolution, and by
the way, Lord North had multiple colleagues in Parliament who supported and
followed him. Not to mention British citizenry and the American Tories. In the
first book, โ€œThe British are Coming,โ€ Atkinson begins the trilogy entirely
devoted to explaining the excesses of George III. He continues at length
throughout the story.

I heartedly endorse Atkinsonโ€™s writing, to those of us who enjoy reading. The
two wars of these trilogies, although separated by two centuries, are brought
to our minds as though they happened yesterday. He is a superb writer, every
bit as accomplished as Bruce Catton of Civil War fame.

He's the King of Canada (and Australia and N.Z), so it's RCAF One, I suppose.

Strikes me as archaic, but it's their country/countries, so none of my business.

While on the subject of monarchy, it strikes me that His Majesty's royal
ancestor,

George III, gets a bad rap in bog standard US history. Was it not really the PM,

Lord North, who slapped on the tea tax and otherwise ticked off the colonists?

After the (British) Glorious Revolution of 1688 and All That, Parliament pretty

much called the Imperial shots, didn't they?

Might be some lessons here for the current Oval Office Throne Room, but I

don't want to drift into NNN.

Why did King Charles just arrive in Canada on a Canadian A330? Not enough
