The selling of trips was a feature of F/A life for quite a long time. It's been a few years now that AA has been cracking down on this and I don't think it was for the reasons Simon has mentioned. Instead I think it has something to do with the F/A contract. Since I'm not very familiar with the F/A contract I can't say for sure but I think the issue has to do with benefits. There are F/As who want the travel and medical benefits but don't want enter that area of their contract that makes them officially full or part time. By bidding each month as a full timer they maintain their benefits and fly less than they otherwise might. If they are senior enough they have desirable trips that others want and willing to pay for. Rostering hasn't been a problem, at least I don't think it has. Whenever it is that I fly next I'll try to remember to ask. Eric
