It was LAWA itself, using purpose built deluxe MCI motorcoaches, that began the first FlyAway service, operating between LAX and Van Nuys. The buses were painted in LAWA colors, and the service was intended to placate those who had βlostβ the LAX air link, whether helicopter or fixed wing.
