Maina,
I¹m still not entirely clear about how SACCO¹s operate, but based on what I
can determine from your e-mail I think it might work as you suggest (Making
the SACCO¹s to be branches).
If they are given access, they can be limited to only operating in their
SACCO and would operate like any other branch. As for the products that are
specific to their SACCO, I don¹t see any limitations on that. The only
thing that might not be desirable is that a SACCO could see and use the
products of other SACCOs, but I¹m not sure how much of an issue that would
be.
But, it also sounds like the scenario you are talking about is they are
reporting loan performances to the MFI after the loan is completed. Only
issue I see at the top of my head is you cannot disburse loans in the past.
So in that instance, they would want to make sure Loans are being entered
into the system before they are disbursed. Transactions could then be
entered later and back-dated. Unfortunately, this would cause issues when
viewing the portfolio (as it would show tons of loan accounts in arrears,
etc), but there might be ways around this.
I would recommend setting up a Mifos instance and seeing if you can¹t model
their processes.
