The other thing you have to make sure of, is that you're authenticated in the 
hotspot.  I've noticed if you don't properly authenticate you can't really do 
much in the IP world.  The Mac-telnet features work quite well tho.

If you're behind the hotspot just like the APs then 9 of 10 times you
should be able to get right into them. The remaining times the arp
service on the routerboard takes over - just make an ip-binding for
this.
