I run an internal caching DNS server at the edge of my network. All the other
towers are configured to use this server for all DNS requests. (The subscribers
of each tower are configured to use their own tower, which relays to the edge
router.)

I am seeing occasional flurries of messages being logged as “unexpected input”
by other towers. They come FROM the edge router, originate on port 53, and are
targeted TO the tower at a random high port. They are INPUT messages, not
FORWARD messages.

I assume I am seeing long-delayed responses to DNS requests from the tower,
being returned too late to be accepted. This squares with trouble reports from
some of my subscribers that point towards DNS problems.

Are there any known problems with DNS in 6.22? Is there any other reason this
would be happening? The edge router itself isn’t logging any sort of exceptions
that I can see.
