FWIW, I can confirm this behavior on Red Hat Linux 7.2 using MD 2.42 w/embedded
interpreter. However, I DO see the following log entry in my maillog:
Jun 4 16:21:12 mx mimedefang-multiplexor: Cannot destroy and recreate a Perl interpreter safely on this platform. Filter rules will NOT be reread.
I can confirm this as well. RH 7.3 with Perl 5.6.1 and MD 2.43. We actually just started using the embedded Perl a few days ago (and our several-times-a-day high load spikes vanished completely), and this message does show up in our logs.
Fortunately, restarting seems to have less of an impact now than it did before, so for the moment I don't mind changing our scripts.
