A bunch of architectures work this way. And it is a quite normal expectation that the 'i' partition match the 'spoofed label' semantics. But for now I think you are the one who made the assumption that your machine can be setup *differently* .. and that everything would work. If you want to come up with a fix for the install script that can auto-determine the partition, we'll be waiting.
