I can't switch consoles with ctrl+alt+Fx - is that expected? Or is there another way to do that on a Powerbook? Ethernet works (gem). Sound works: I can record a file with aucat -o file.wav and play i back with aucat -i file.wav. X doesn't work (NVIDIA GeForce4 440). Unlike i386 where you can switch between the two at will. So, if you want X, you need to set ttyC0 status 'off', start X from your rc.conf.local with something like xdm(1) It was surprising to me that you can't switch between X and console (because I was raised on i386). Is this mentioned somewhere in the FAQ? Is the /etc/ttys remark still applicable? Running `Xorg -configure' as root produces a xorg.conf.new but leaves a blank screen there. After I log in remotely, I see no X related processes running. Usually I change whataver the Driver is to "vesa" and things work, but there is no vesa here. With a wsfb Driver, X almost works: it's black and white and the default fvwmrc menu is just a black rectangle. Windows have no borders (or possibyl black borders?) A lot of things are black-on-black, such as the tmux status line and the mutt index page. See Xorg log and xdpyinfo below. In summary, it is pretty usable besides X.
