That is yet another example of interactive use, of an installer feature designed for NON-INTERACTIVE USE. I feel like we're being pushed to support a set of use cases which are not core functionality. The installer will keep improving in various ways, but these narrow use cases will be first up against the wall (due to being ignored during development, they'll be fragile due to subtle changes). It's a complicated shell script. It doesn't deliver pizza, either.
