Well I was able to get SR_DEBUG working with the attached diff. I have tracked the hang down to the open device call on line 1038 `error = VOP_OPEN(vn, FREAD, NOCRED, curproc);` in the sr_meta_native_bootprobe function of /usr/src/sys/dev/softraid.c.
Now that I'm completely out of my depth, can anyone suggest a method for getting the kernel to panic to ddb to get a trace or something, instead of just freezing? Or, is there a gdb method of booting the kernel? I'm running of trails to follow. Thanks for any suggestions.
