In particular, installing OpenBSD requires the following steps:

 1) Partition and format the disc.
 2) Untar a bunch of stuff (or in the case of /bsd*, copy).
 3) Install the bootloader.

That's _it_. The few other tasks performed by the installer, like
installing /etc/hostname.*, KARL and configuring /etc/rc.conf.local,
users, etc., are not at all necessary for a functioning *and
future-proof*[*] system and can be entirely wrapped up in siteXX.tgz
or install.sub's autoinstall.conf file.

It would be nice to put more intelligence into the system maintainence
tools to encapsulate some of the methods available for adapting that
simple process, but a process as simple as that for performing a task as
complex installing an entire operating system should not be given up
lightly.
