Thanks, that tweak seems to have gotten past the problem and now X will start: initializing kernel modesetting (RV610 0x1002:0x94C1 0x1028:0x0D02 0x00). radeondrm0: 1680x1050, 32bpp wsdisplay0 at radeondrm0 mux 1: console (std, vt100 emulation), using wskbd0 wskbd1: connecting to wsdisplay0 wsdisplay0: screen 1-5 added (std, vt100 emulation) I wonder what the difference is between i386 and amd64...
