Exactly. For one thing, the methods described in this thread share the same bootloader. Remember the issues we had post 7.4-release when users were trying to upgrade existing systems that were running something older then 7.3 by booting just the new bsd.rd instead of using one of the install media images? More 'fun' awaits for anyone who shares a softraid partition between two diverse installs when the day comes that the metadata format is updated again.
