Hello everyone, I have upgraded a Dell XPS 9380 laptop today from 7.6 to 7.7 after bringing 7.6 up to date with fw_update, syspatch, and one reboot after each command.
When running syspatch, it went well but then did not reboot. After downloading the firmware for 7.7, it stopped at "Upgrading". After poking around, a reboot command was hanging in ps. I tried to reboot, again hanging. Same for shutdown -r now or -p now. After a hard reset, it upgraded. After the upgrade, it happened again once. I wiped /etc/firmware, re ran fw_update. I downloaded 7.7 again to re run the upgrade with sysupgrade -kn + reboot just to make sure nothing is corrupted. That seems to not occur again since then. I have no idea what could have done it though it happeed just a fw_update. Looking at the mailing list I could also find: https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-misc&m=173584635329871&w=2 This seems like the exact same symptoms and I do have a wireguard connection but I'm 99% sure no traffic was going through it. I could not find anything special in the logs apart from some USB stuff: usbd_free_xfer: xfer=0x... not free. This message occured the two boots where I couldn't reboot and during downloads (I think). My XPS has a dead screen and I'm using it as desktop docked through USBC to a screen which has a few devices attached (keyboard, mouse, wireless dongle, speakers, power). So perhaps some USB stack issue messed up with the ACPI? Thanks, Thomas
