I’ll post my shame: downloaded the wrong architecture and got stuck at boot. 
Unfortunately searching for ideas online shows old problems and a hint of 
instability.

Perhaps the VM faq pages should include some reassurance that the tech is 
stable and problems might arise between keyboard and seat.
