You are correct, www.openbsd.org isn't supposed to serve this data per T.J. Townsend in another email a little while ago (thanks T.J.!) I'm not sure how www.openbsd.org ended up in my /etc/installurl file either. I did select 'http' from the install options out of habit and I encountered an error there (possibly the same but I do not recall). Installing from 'disk' afterward worked until I tried sysupgrade. I don't recall ever typing a url in anywhere which is what prompted my email. Maybe it was ghosts, or maybe it was now-forgotten user error.
