Well, it was not really an install, nor an upgrade. :-( I have a Makefile system which generates site78.tgz (architecture independent), and site78-host.tgz (architecture dependent) files. These are loaded at install time automagically. They both add and edit files from the stock OpenBSD install. Those site files contained old config files for dhclient (and who knows what else), because I didn't apply the update notes. (I didn't know to do that.) They all worked as of OpenBSD 7.6, where dhclient was still installed. > The change from dhclient to dhcpleased seems to have been around > 7.0/7.1 so if you did not install 7.8 but instead upgraded, it would > be relevant to add from which version you did upgrade, and if you did > or did not follow the upgrade notes for the versions in between. I "installed" (with my site78.tgz and site78-host.tgz) OpenBSD 7.8, with leftover config files. It was a complete reformat of the disk with disklabel and newfs, so it was an install, with the effect of an upgrade. That interface to my cable modem is still not being configured, so I still don't have internet access to my ISP on 7.8. I will find and read the upgrade notes. Thanks for your help, Ken
