I understand I need an application to capture video, I was planning on using ffmpeg. I don't want or need to display it locally, that's why I was trying to avoid fxtv. I thought I could change channels via radioctl, then stream the capture with ffmpeg. However you keep mentioning fxtv so I'm starting to think there is no way to do this without an application running in X. thanks
