Hey, I'm using OpenBSD 4.1-STABLE and I just today purchased a 250GiG Western
Digital drive and a cheap USB 2.0 enclosure..

I'm trying to setup the partitions on the device using an old Pentium 2 with a
USB 1.0 controller, (usb0 at uhci0.)

Anyway, the device ""does"" show up when I plug it in.. but when I attempt to
save any MBR changes it displays an error..

[Copy & Pasted]

umass0 at uhub0 port 1 configuration 1 interface 0

umass0: Super Top USB 2.0 IDE DEVICE, rev 2.00/2.01, addr 2

umass0: using SCSI over Bulk-Only

scsibus1 at umass0: 2 targets

sd0 at scsibus1 targ 1 lun 0: <WDC WD25, 00JB-55REA0, 0 0> SCSI 0/direct fixed

sd0: 238475MB, 238475 cyl, 64 head, 32 sec, 512 bytes/sec, 488397168 sec total

...

Anyway, here is what fdisk prints.. (No other recorded errors in dmesg..)

fdisk:*1> w

Writing MBR at offset 0.

fdisk:*1> q

Writing current MBR to disk.

fdisk: error writing MBR: Input/ouput error

fdisk:*1>

....

I thought the jumper might have been wrong, It didn't work when at CS(Cable
Select) or Master (No Jumper..)

Did I buy a defective/unsupported device? or can anyone explain what I'm doing
wrong....? It cost me a bit.... :(
