Since Theo mentioned that some people were misled with donations and CD orders let me count up who I think gets money with OpenBSD CD's. Feel free to correct me.
1. Theo gets an undisclosed amount out of the sale, this pays for the server farm's electricity, leased lines and his income. 2. Ty Semaka gets a chunk for the artwork and song. 3. Wim gets a chunk for being a reseller in Europe, he's already said though that the CD's amount to 10 percent of his income (with 90% for hardware like soekris). 4. The people who mass manufacture the CD get a chunk of money. (5. I didn't know the computer shop of calgary takes a chunk, just another middle man.) What I do, is wish for OpenBSD for XMAS every year or so, this works out with the release date of the winter release. I always felt glad to be putting some money in Theo's pockets (and project too) even though I'm not that rich myself. In the summer release I usually download OpenBSD from the ftp servers and I have done a donation "in lieu" of buying a CD before. When I do donations it's going to Theo or the paypal account directly so no middle men. I'm thinking of doing that this year again although times are tough. I feel it's very important to keep the CD's distributed, a styled OpenBSD CD is much nicer than a self-burned CD with marker on it. -p
