It is similar to all the other HP EliteBook and HP ProBook I have seen so far. They do not run with whole ACPI enabled.

What puzzles me is that /bsd.rd (who does the install) has ACPI enabled,
yet runs fine - unlike the /bsd that in installs

The sets of ACPI devices supported in GENERIC and RAMDISK_CD kernels differ, RAMDISK_CD supports only a subset. See:

diff /usr/src/sys/arch/i386/conf/GENERIC /usr/src/sys/arch/i386/conf/RAMDISK_CD)
