Eric,

Thanks for this one. It is really good. I saw a picture of a Mexican Flag
raised and the American Flag upside down beneath it. It seems to me that they
are really enemies, not immigrants sometimes. From what you describe they want
more freedoms than the rest of us. Tensions are certainly there.

Now these incidents I DO seriously object to, again because of the apparent
double standard (or even triple standard in that the US flag is the flag of the
soil we are sitting on). The school administrators need to be removed.

I have read a good bit more about the "Arizona Law" as it is coming to be
known. I still regret that it is necessary, but, especially given the reports
that border crossers have become increasingly militant and violent in the last
few years, it IS necessary. There are also provisions in the bill which purport
to limit the police from checking for papers unless some other indication of
criminal activity is present. Whether those limitations will be followed or not
is unclear, but it definitely gives Arizona authorities the power to apprehend
illegals engaged in border trespass which Border Patrol has not been doing.

Of course, none of this would be necessary if the Federal government would
comply with Article IV Section 4 of the Constitution:

> The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican
> Form of Government, and shall protect each of them AGAINST INVASION; and on
> Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature
> cannot be convened) against domestic Violence. [emphasis mine]

The US Army has been engaged in protecting citizens on this border since 1829
when Brevet Major Bennet Riley was dispatched there with 200 soldiers to
protect caravans, so it is not like the government is being asked to do
anything unusual and it could be considered to be the major reason the
Constitution was formed in the first place.
