It's possible that the .ID format may have changed. If you can share 
your dataset then I could have a look and see if the new format could be 
supported. Actually, if you could file a bug at 
http://bugzilla.maptools.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=MITAB and attach a 
sample dataset to the bug that would be even better.
