Hi Matt,

I use Analyze images as well, it works nice. The only thing was that I
had some problems with AnalyzeImageIOFactory that was assigned to the
Analyze format by ITK in default, so I was suggested to use
NiftiImageIOFactory instead. I do not remember the problem, but you
may find it either on this or on the ITK mailing list.

I created a custom MITK application to register it at the start by:
  itk::NiftiImageIOFactory::RegisterOneFactory();

Then I could read Analyze images by the standard ITK or MITK classes.
This will not show the ".hdr" or ".img" file extension in the file
open dialog (you have to select "all" in favor of "known extensions"),
but the images are read correctly.

Please, let me know if you find a way to add ".img" to the known extensions!

Best,
Miklos
