Did you branch your changes for #15005 off of MITK master?
If so, this is standard behaviour in MITK master.
In the NifTK fork, we explicitly turned that behaviour off using a property.

that now not only the seeds of the current slice are rendered in 2D view, but

I "git bisect"-ed this, and it says that
7d9a8305c7f28ac6fc6807abcc8b7ca15994d895 is the first bad commit.
