Hi Selva, DICOM images typically are 3d or 4d volumes stored as separate slices in a directory. As it is not always easy to see which files/slices belong together our DICOM readers use a quite sophisticated heuristic to rebuild a correct volume out of these slice files. Therefore it scans all files in the directory and read/process their meta data like patient id, series, geometry information, you name it. It’s actually a whole set of heuristics and the one producing the least number of volumes is chosen to do the reading.
It is hard to tell what’s going on in your screenshot. Sometimes slices of a volume are not aligned like a box but the geometries of slices differ in more than one direction which could be the case. You should definitely open the image navigator to get an idea of the slices and navigate through them. Additionally you can right-click on your image in the Data Manager and click on Details to see detailed information of the geometry. When you open a DICOM files through File -> Open you have the choice between different readers and if a reader does not produce expected results, you can also try the other ones. In the end there’s also a simple one without any heuristics that just read in all slices and assumes that they are part of “standard” 3d volume. But when I import the directory, I finally see a series like as shown below. As you can see in the left data manager, there is the file info but why does the image look like this? Does this mean all the 147 images have been put together as one file and image is displayed like as shown in screenshot? How do I know whether it's just say any of the image (ex: dcm0 or dcm1) or all images (147 images) put together? I tried resetting and other rotation options to get a meaningful image but couldn't get any proper image? Can you help? I am just learning to use MITK and playing around with DICOM images Were you able to open the images that I sent in last mail successfully? In fact you should either open just one of the DICOM files and all others in the folder will be recognized or use the DICOM Browser Plugin within the Icon-Bar on the top. With this browser you can go with the „Import“-Tab and choose „Scan directory“ which lists you all available DICOM series to load. To be faster, you can drag and drop one DICOM file from your file browser into the left Data Manager view of the MITK workbench. The image loader automatically looks for other DICOM files in the folder from which you choose one file. Your files should not be broken, at least i can open the series. I have attached a couple of sample files from a study for your reference. This study consists of 147 images (0-146 dcm images). I have shared two images (dcm0, dcm1). Can you let us know what is the issue? Whenever I load the file, "Choose file reader" window shows up with a drop down. I tried by selecting both of the options but it does not work. Is it incorrect to upload one dicom image at a time? if yes, can you let me know why? Should I selecting all 147 images and click "Open file", even then nothing happens. As I am new to this, not sure whether the issue is with the file itself Can you please help?
