I think the source code is the best reference ;) I would assume it’s mostly ITK 
based, e.g.

Hi Everyone,

Can someone point me towards exactly which algorithms are implemented in the 3D 
segmentation plugins.

Eg. Fast Marching 3D, Region Growing 3D, Watershed?

I did try looking in the documentation, but they are fairly brief. I presume 
these are classic algorithms, but it would be good to know exactly the 
algorithm or have a paper reference, as there are so many variants of similar 
algorithms.
